Domain Names
Can I have a .com domain name?
You certainly can. We can purchase a .com for £30 for 2 years ownership or a .co.uk costs £15 for 2 years ownership.
Can I use a domain name I have already purchased?
Yes. You can either transfer the domain name to our control and we will manage the renewals for you or you can modify the nameservers in your domain control panel which will point the name to our hosting. If you need some help with this, just ask.
Will my domain name be renewed for me?
Yes. If we are managing your domain for you, we will renew it when necessary (every 2 years normally) and add it to your next invoice.
If we are unsure, we may contact you to check if you still require a domain name before renewing it on your behalf.
If you purchase a domain name for me, who owns it?
Although the domain name is registered to our account, we are happy to release it for you at any time. If you decide to move away from our services, just let us know the IPS TAG you would like the domain transferring to and it will be done within 48 hours free of charge.
Web Design
Will my site appear in the search engines?
On creation of your site, we will notify google, yahoo and msn.
Search engines can take several weeks to visit your site and analyse the content so please be patient. We do have several methods to help speed this process up and these are all done as part of our standard service.
Do you have a guide to terminology?
We have an entire section called jargon buster which will help you to understand all the different words and phrases in web design.
If you need something explaining, feel free to ask us. It is all part of the service.
I don't have any images to use on my new site. Can you help?
We can purchase images from istockphoto.com and bigstockphoto.com for you. They cost approx £1 each and the cost can be added to your final invoice upon completion. The licence we purchase only allows us to use the image on the website so if you require the use of it for different marketing material (flyers, brochures, etc), you will need to purchase a separate licence.
Website Management
Do you charge for alterations?
We provide free text and image alterations with all our standard packages. Just email us your alterations and we will make them within 48 hours but usually sooner. If you require a website revamp, additional costs may be involved so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Can I increase the number of pages within my site
after it has been initially created?
Certainly. We can either move you to the next website package or charge
you for each additional page individually.
How can I find out how many hits I am getting?
We set up a google analytics report with all our managed website packages so you will receive a detailed website statistics pdf via email on the first of every month. It will also show you how your hits compare to the previous month. If you would like access to this report online, just provide us with the email address associated with your google account, and we can give you access.
What happens if my site goes down?
We use a website monitoring service that notifies us if your site isn't working. If for some reason your site goes down, we will look into the issue and talk to our hosting company to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
Hosting
Is your hosting UK or US based?
Our hosting is UK based (Nottingham in fact) and we find that this makes page loading
slightly quicker and uploading to your site is a lot faster.
It can also help with your search engine position if your hosting is in the same country as your target market so if you are looking at hosting, make sure you ask suppliers where their servers are based.
How much webspace will I need for my website?
The average small to medium sized website is normally around 100mb to 200mb but we provide 30gb (30,000mb) of webspace with our seperate hosting packages so you have more space than the average website owner will ever need. With our managed website packages, you recieve unlimited hosting space.
Can I have a professional looking email address?
With all of our managed website packages you have access to a control panel to create up to 20 email addresses for your domain so you could have info@mydomain.co.uk, accounts@mydomain.co.uk, support@mydomain.co.uk, etc.
Can I set my email up with outlook or outlook express, etc?
Yes you can. We have a separate email section with video tutorials to help you get everything set up.
Can I access my email online without software such as outlook?
Yes. We provide a webmail service which lets you check your email from any internet based pc.
