USB 3.0 is expected to be released to manufacturers in the second half of 2009 which means we can expect to see it in full use in 2010.

USB 2.0 is the current industry standard for connecting devices to pc’s.  Currently, connection speeds reach up to 480mbps but with USB 3.0, we can expect to see speeds reach up to 5gbps (5000mbps) which will make tasks such as pc backups and streaming HD movies a lot easier.

USB 3.0 is expected to be called USB Superspeed and will be backwards compatible with USB 2.0
